Status of compatibility with the requirements

The BOP website is subjected to an accessibility assessment at regular intervals.

The website of the BOP (https://online.portal.bzst.de) is currently not fully compliant with the technical requirements set out under the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0). Compliance with said requirements was last assessed in the period from 24.03. to 31.03.2025 by testing the BOP website.

The instances of incompatibility are listed below.

Non-barrier-free content

Contrasts

The screen contrast ratio is too small in the transaction mailbox (“Manage my transactions” [“Vorgänge verwalten”]). The problem pertains, in particular, to the transaction detail view and:

• the screen contrast ratio between the green text and the white background of the “Delete transaction” (“Vorgang löschen”) function
• the screen contrast ratio between the green text and the white background of the checkbox labelling “Further functions” (“weitere Funktionen”)

Heading level

Heading levels are sometimes skipped, meaning that a logical HTML heading structure is not complied with. The problem was able to be detected, for example, in the transaction mailbox under “Manage my transactions” (“Vorgänge verwalten”):

• Overview of transactions
• Transaction detail view

Some data tables are not labelled.

Some content displayed in tabular form is not recognised by the screen reader as a data table and is, therefore, not displayed as such. This means that visually impaired users cannot perceive the content of the data tables in a structured way. The problem was able to be detected, for example, with the following tabular contents:

• Account details (My account)
• General information (My account)

Elimination of non-barrier-free content

The results of the accessibility assessment are analysed by the Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt) and content that is deemed not accessible is continuously corrected in subsequent versions.

The Arbitration Board under Section 16 German Disability Equality Act (BGG) is tasked with settling disputes between people with disabilities and federal public bodies out of court, in particular, on the subject of (barrier-free) accessibility. The conciliation procedure itself is free of charge. No legal assistance is required.
